September, numerologically speaking, is the apex of the year, the month that underscores and highlights our personal theme for the year. If you haven’t yet figured out what you’re working on in 2018, you should have no doubts by the end of the month. Everything is loud in September. The stock market gets wonky. The kids are back in school. In the Southwest of the US, everything gets hotter. In the Northeast, it starts to cool down, the fog rolls in in the mornings, and the leaves begin to think about turning.
This is the time of the year when we can really see the imbalances, so that we can right them. At the Equinox, September 23rd this year, the balance point of the rational and the intuitive will exist for a moment, and then the forces of the intuitive, dark, inner contemplations will slowly ascend and rule throughout the winter. This year, Rosh Hashanah is the 10th & 11th, September 19th is Yom Kippur, with the Days of Awe in between. This is when the Jewish people work to become better people and set their intent for the coming year. Sounds like righting imbalances to me…
Consider what is out of order or out of balance in your life. Pause for a moment, and consider what you need to do in order to regain your balance. What will you take on or let go of in order to set your affairs in order? Contemplate To whom do you owe amends? How can you change your behavior going forward to be more of a person that you yourself would admire?
The best of my desires
In the autumn road
The mellow winds
That soothe the darkening shires
…And laughter
…And inn fires
– Samuel Taylor Coleridge
