Celebrating the Solstice

There’s a lot going on energetically right now, you might have noticed. We’re coming up on Solstice and a new moon, Mercury is finally not retrograde anymore, it’s the holiday season, and the weather is in overdrive everywhere, it seems.

And there’s something else, too; can you feel it? Something’s coming. The astrologers are telling me that we’re being asked to be more and more authentic, more and more integrated, more and more real. By June, we’re all going to be standing in our truth, whether we want to be or not. That’s epic.

So this Solstice is an important one. It’s in the 3 day window of the New Moon, so it’s great for setting intentions. Winter Solstice itself (I’m in the Northern Hemisphere) is a time of rebirth and is imbued with a yearning to rejoin The All That Is. I’m convinced that’s what Seasonal Affective Disorder actually is most of the time.

The Winter Holidays are some of my favorites. I go look at lights, I bake cookies, I have a small tree, I do candles, I sing. I usually have my own little ceremony with a few of my students to make the occasion, where we do crafts and meditate on the themes of the holiday. This year, though,  I get to be a part of this amazing event, called Dance to Freedom. We’re kicking off the night with a ceremony where you’ll have the opportunity to put down all your burdens, including the ones you gave yourself, and to move into the energy of change, supported and joyous. It’s a really fantastic group of people and I’m very excited about it.

It’s even open to the public! Even if you don’t want to stay up all night (which really is a custom, not an insomniac’s excuse), if you can make it to Simi Valley by 6pm, you should come to the ceremony. You do need to sign up in advance, as no tickets will be available at the gate. Just for my readers, use discount code “winson130”  to get 30% off your tickets. I want to see you there THAT much.
