[Monday Message] Gratitude can move mountains

Gratitude is one of the most powerful forces in the Universe. Gratitude can move mountains.

“Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence.”
-Og Mandino

If you want to change your experience, gratitude lists are the easiest tool to use. Some people think they have to have this overwhelming sensation of gratitude in order to put something on that list. All you really need to do is acknowledge that the list item is a positive force, thing, or person. You can be grateful for forks and still create meaningful change in your life.

It is a simple but incredibly spiritual practice to write a gratitude list every day, no matter what. The length of this list is, of course, up to you, but I had a teacher who suggested that I do a fifty item list every night for thirty days. It is amazing what changed in those thirty days. Of course, it is also amazing what needed to change in those thirty days. Some people can change their Universe with a five item list. Some people do well with fifteen. Experiment with your gratitude! See how many items you can come up with!

If you at a loss as to how to begin, consider this question:

If you woke up tomorrow and everything you had NOT put on your gratitude list was gone, what would you put on your list?

Do you want to move mountains?

This post is part of a new series called Monday Message, based on that day’s reflection from 365 Days to Enlightenment (authorized versions are currently out of print, working on a new edition). Check back next Monday for another one! You can also sign up for the Daily Message on my mailing list if you’d like to receive a new reflection every day. I also often post them to Instagram, if that’s a medium you enjoy.
