The 40 Day Practice: Day 21: Visioning

We embark on the twenty-first day of a 40 Day Practice, based on the energy of the Labyrinth (releasing – contemplation – receiving). If you have a local labyrinth, I invite you to walk the labyrinth with today’s theme as your focus. If you don’t have a local labyrinth, you can create your own, take a walk somewhere peaceful, or even sit in contemplation in your own home. I will be scheduling various public labyrinth appearances, and you are welcome to join me when and where you can, if you feel moved to do so.

The theme for today is Visioning. Visioning is the skill or art (depending on your point of view) of being able to see something in your mind’s eye for purposes to manifestation or exploration. It is the conscious direction of imagination. Visioning, despite the name, is not purely visual – it involves all the senses.

Questions that might help you to see what you can release: Do I feel like my clarity, my insight, or my hindsight is blocked? What about my foresight? Do I have thought patterns that tell me I can’t see? Can I picture achieving my goals?

Suggestions for contemplation: The way to strengthen your visioning is through conscious practice. Imagine a place. You may have been there, or you may not have. Imagine what the ground (if there is ground) would feel like under your feet. Imagine what the air would feel like on your skin. Imagine what sounds you would hear. Imagine what things might smell like. Imagine as much visual detail as possible. Imagine the physical sensations of being there in your body as well as outside your body. Imagine what emotions that would being up, and feel them.

A good mantra for receiving today could be “I open myself to receive more clarity, more insight, more hindsight, and more foresight,” or “I open myself to greater powers of imagination,” or even “I am ready to receive more information on what (or how) to vision.”
