We embark on the seventh day of a 40 Day Practice, based on the energy of the Labyrinth (releasing – contemplation – receiving). If you have a local labyrinth, I invite you to walk the labyrinth with today’s theme as your focus. If you don’t have a local labyrinth, you can create your own, take a walk somewhere peaceful, or even sit in contemplation in your own home. I will be scheduling various public labyrinth appearances, and you are welcome to join me when and where you can, if you feel moved to do so.
Today’s theme is Small Miracles. How do you define a miracle? What is the difference between a small miracle and a large one? Name three small miracles.
Questions that might help you see what you can release: Do you believe in miracles? Why or why not? Have you ever experienced a miracle? How often do you experience miracles? Do you think you are aware of the miracles in your life? What might prevent you from realizing or acknowledging a miracle? Do you think there is something your makeup, personality or actions that blocks miracles? Do you focus on miracles or resist them? Why?
Suggestions for Contemplation: Are all miracles instantaneous, or can they develop over time? Are there miracles in nature? Is there an animal you associate with miracles? How do you perceive that animal? Do you like having that animal around or do you resist its presence? Why? Do you know anyone who seems to have miracles in their life? What is it about them that seems to attract that? Do they have personality traits, or do they do certain things, that might bring more miracles into your life if you emulated them? What energy shift would need to happen in your life in order for there to be more miracles? Is that something you yourself can create or contribute to? What is the range of miracles you can imagine?
Your mantra for receiving today might be “I open myself to receive miracles of all shapes and sizes, and the ability to recognize them.”
Today’s practice was informal, mostly a matter of paying attention.
In case you haven’t seen it on the news or read it on the Internet, Southern California (actually, all of California) is in the midst of a record-breaking drought.
It rained while we were hiking!
I’m not even sure this counts as a small miracle.
