Why are we here? As a whole, I believe humanity is here to have all the experiences possible, so The Divine can have an experiential understanding of ourselves. Individually, our higher selves have chosen the path we will take in order to have those experiences. Since time is an illusion, all of the experiences and variables have been had, so the next step is to reassemble the Divine, in other words, to re-member who we are. We still have specific core values that will carry us down the path we have chosen, and we must each be true to those values.
We are having our experiences here, on this plane, because of its density. The experiences are more impactful when we are in the illusion of time. The five senses are fascinating and distracting and don’t exist in less dense energies. The density makes things challenging, but that’s part of the fun to our higher selves.
Because our higher selves like a challenge, we have created this disposable society where there is an expectation of instantaneous gratification. Part of us remembers that time doesn’t actually exist, and we could have everything all at once. This shortcut here, though, has damaged the planet (an aspect of higher self) in a way that is making it harder for us to survive. So we get to figure out how to fix it. So exciting! Problem solving is an excellent challenge.
The rub, though, is that living in a disposable society means people aren’t familiar with dedication. If they are, they generally don’t attach the concept of joy to it. But the path you have chosen should be the singular motivating factor in your daily decision making. And when you are on your path, your heart sings. So dedication and joy absolutely go together.
When a choice comes up, ask yourself
Will this further me along my path or make me stagnant?
Will this keep me on my path or take me off of it?
The only difficulty is in knowing what your path is, but, really, that is almost always an argument generated by the negative ego in order to make your spirituality more difficult. You know what your path is. You are on the path to enlightenment, or you would not be reading this! So, what does that mean? It means that your actions should be motivated by kindness, love, learning, compassion, generosity, selflessness, and seeking to know the Divine. Actions that are motivated by other things come from the negative ego and should be avoided whenever possible through appropriate use of will.
If you want to get more specific, figure out what your three biggest core values are. Under each of those, figure out the three areas of your life (9 in total) that are most important to you. Anything that does not in some way serve those priorities isn’t important enough to do. Now the path you travel is super clear.
You’re welcome.
This post is part of a series called Monday Message, based on that day’s reflection from 365 Days to Enlightenment (authorized versions are currently out of print, working on a new edition). Check back next Monday for another one! You can also sign up for the Daily Message on my mailing list if you’d like to receive a new reflection every day. I also often post them to Instagram, if that’s a medium you enjoy.
