[Monday Message] Change Your Mind and Change Your World

Do you want to have an ordinary life? Or do you want to have an extraordinary life? If you want to have an extraordinary life, you may need to change your world. It’s easier than you might think.

First of all, let me be clear. An extraordinary life is not about how it looks to others. That’s out of balance and a product of the patriarchal system. An extraordinary life is about how it feels to you. How you see the world is primarily what dictates what sort of life you are going to have.

From a magical point of view, energy follows focus. When you focus on those things in your life that are already extraordinary and spectacular, you feed them, and more of such things come into your life. You change your world.

From a psychological point of view, when you look for those things in your life that are already extraordinary and spectacular, you see them, and you start to see more and more of them. With applied concentration, the amazing begins to overpower the negative things you notice, and your world is changed.

So see the beauty, the fabulousness, the intricacies in your life and celebrate them. Make a list at the end of every day of the beautiful, the joy-inducing, the small magics and miracles that happened in your day. Embrace them, celebrate them, marvel at them. Don’t allow drudgery any of your attention. If there is a task that needs to be done, see the magic in it before you pick it up. Invite beauty into your life, and your life with be filled with beauty. Ignore your negative ego and just try it.

And you will change your world.

Go forth! Be extraordinary! Remember that you are the light of the world!

This post is part of a new series called Monday Message, based on that day’s reflection from 365 Days to Enlightenment (authorized versions are currently out of print, working on a new edition). Check back next Monday for another one! You can also sign up for the Daily Message on my mailing list if you’d like to receive a new reflection every day. I also often post them to Instagram, if that’s a medium you enjoy.
