Looking ahead to 2019

We are approaching (but have not yet arrived at) a moment when we are ready to build a new foundation. That means, of course, that the old foundation has to continue to crumble away. Throughout this process, we will all have the opportunity to reinvent ourselves, and to let go of false identities. This is the paradigm shift, folks! Those things we have considered most stable, the cornerstones of our lives, will go through some fantastical shifts, which we may not be able to comprehend except in hindsight. It is important to remember that paradigm shift is not comfortable when we’re in it, so make sure you’re doing as much internal work as you can, identifying where things are bringing up your discomfort, resistance, and outmoded ideas, so that you can move quickly as conditions change.

2019 is an interesting year to me, numerologically speaking.

We determine the “number” of a year by reducing the digits of that year, so 2019 = 2+0+1+9 = 12 or, further reduced, 3.

In Pythagorean numerology, numbers are always reduced to a single digit, with the exception of 11, 22, and 33. I find, however, that there are certain multiple digit numbers that retain their significance, and I will look at that as well when doing a reading. 12 is one of those numbers. There is a reason we count 12 months in a solar year, separate a day into 12 twice, or an hour into 5×12 – 12 is the number of the masculine aspect of the Divine (13 would be the number of the feminine aspect of the Divine). So 12 is masculine and solar.

In Gematria, or Kabbalic numerology, 3 represents stability. Think of in terms of geometry – 3 is a triangle, which is the most stable of shapes. When you brace yourself to not be pushed over, you plant you feet apart, forming a triangle with your legs.

In Chaldean-Jewish numerology, 3 represents idealism, higher education, foreign travel, and religion. It is associated with Jupiter, and is therefore expansive in nature. 3 also speaks to a holistic way of viewing a human being – mind, body, and spirit.

3 is also the first manifestation or emanation of the threefold Divine. If you think of the Feminine and Masculine Divine creating together, 3 would be the product of that creation. Pythagorean numerology, which is what most people use in the United States, holds that 3 is social and about creative expression, which is a more mundane way of looking at the number in terms of the Divine.
