SpaceWeather tells me:
Today, spacecraft are monitoring a close encounter between the sun and Comet 96P/Machholz (link mine). This is no ordinary comet. 96P/Machholz has a strange chemical composition that has prompted astronomers to wonder if it comes from another star system. Moreover, it is linked to a complicated network of debris streams criss-crossing the Solar System, suggesting that 96P/Machholz may have exploded in the distant past. The comet will receive a new blast of heat in the days ahead as it swoops past the sun deep inside the orbit of Mercury.
The last time this comet was in this location was in 2012; July 14th, to be exact (it has a 5.2 year orbit). Do you remember what was going on in your life at that time? Worldwide, the most significant event was that we were still in Arab Spring; Nationally, George Zimmerman sought a new judge in his trial.
Please note: It is possible that Comet 96P/Machholz is not from another solar system.
Regardless of it’s origin and composition, its return portends an explosive event – every time it reaches perhelion, it seems to fragment a little more. Because it is a sungrazing comet, it affects our hearts, our sense of connection, and our core values.
Take some time over the next few days to reflect on what you are here to do, and what your core values are. In addition, all of the usual suggestions for a solar storm apply:
And remember that you are the light of the world!
