Self Care is Really Important Right Now

First of all, I just got this in my inbox from SpaceWeather:

A G2-class geomagnetic storm is in progress on Sept. 7th as Earth moves through a stream of fast moving solar wind.  Sky watchers in Alaska witnessed bright auroras before daybreak on Monday, and they might see them again after nightfall. High-latitude observers everywhere should be alert for Northern Lights.

And then, of course, we are rapidly approaching Mercury going retrograde (9/17), and we are starting to feel it. The retrograde will be in Libra, so communications, teamwork, and partnerships will be affected. Also, watch your kidneys. *looks around warily*

On top of all of that, we are in September. September is the crescendo of the year, the most intense month, that month when your theme for the year asks for resolution. So…

  • Start drinking water. No, more water. Double or triple the amount of water (not tea, not coffee, not soda) you consume.
  • Make sure you have a daily grounding practice, preferably before you have to deal with anyone else or, gods forbid, look at your email.
  • Be very deliberate and conscious about everything you do, especially if it involves communication.
  • Start adding more time to your travel and preparation estimates. You’ll thank me later.
  • Avoid taking short cuts. In fact, see if you can make every act a sacred one. Be deliberate, conscious, and present. Let go of the push of time. Accept that things will get done in their perfect time and just breathe.
  • Breathing! Whenever you think of it, slow your breath. Breathe all the way in, pause, breathe all the way out, pause, repeat.  Make sure you are sitting or standing up straight so you get the most out of your breath. Imagine the breath extending all the way down into the soles of your feet.
  • This is not a time for pressure or rushing. This is a time for savoring every bite, every step, every word, every sip, every movement.
  • Eat things as close to nature as possible. This does not mean to take your sandwich out into the woods, although that’s nice too. When you look at your food, is it recognizable as what it was in life? Great. Eat that. Proteins and foods high in iron are especially good right now. And more water. Did I mention that yet?
  • For extra credit, take some time to contemplate how you fit into the world and how you can make the world around you a better place, not just for yourself, but for others are well. And then do something about it. Even a small action can make a difference.

Remember, you are the light of the world!
