I think I have figured out why people don’t get along with Mondays… It’s a matter (isn’t it always?) of fighting the energy.
If you look at the naming of days of the week as those days been dedicated to a planet or deity, or being infused with that energy, each day of the week has a very particular flavor. Monday is dedicated to the Moon, and therefore has a slow, floaty, dreamlike energy. Yet this is the day most people in our society go back to work after 2 days of rest. They are expected to hit the ground running, to be productive and structured, and to set the flow for the week. No wonder it makes people uncomfortable!
Here’s a tip if you’re an employer or a manager: schedule your power meetings for your team on Tuesdays. It will work much better. Tuesday is Mars, it’s fire, it’s full of go-get-’em.
For the rest of us, here are some helpful tips for making friends with Mondays:
* Get up a little earlier, so you can get centered. Planning your day so you don’t feel rushed will go a long way toward removing dissonance.
* Wear something, even a piece of jewelry, that connects you to the energy of the day. The keynotes are self-care, gentleness, inspiration, imagination, water, comfort. Stones that support the essence of Monday include moonstone, kunzite, howlite, rose quartz, angelite, selenite, calcite, and labradorite. If you need to get more grounded, hemetite should be in the mix. Avoid wearing copper on Mondays.
* Drink a lot of water. I mean, yes, I say this a lot. I’m sure i must have written a tools-based post that doesn’t recommend it at some point… It really will help though. The Moon in about water, so drinking more water will connect you to the energy of the day better. Plus it will help flush out any toxins you took on over the weekend!
* Mind what you put in your body. Mondays are for tea more than for coffee. Eat things that are close to nature, light, and easy to digest. Heavy foods will make your day harder. Wednesday and Thursday are best for heavier fare.
* If you can, use Monday for inspiration, brainstorming, and freeform activities, rather than mental problem solving or fast-paced activities.
Connecting with the energy of a day is easier and more supportive than fighting it. You will be more comfortable, and you’ll use less energy, because you won’t be struggling.
Have a great week!
