The 40 Day Practice: Day 18: Trust

We embark on the eighteenth day of a 40 Day Practice, based on the energy of the Labyrinth (releasing – contemplation – receiving). If you have a local labyrinth, I invite you to walk the labyrinth with today’s theme as your focus. If you don’t have a local labyrinth, you can create your own, take a walk somewhere peaceful, or even sit in contemplation in your own home. I will be scheduling various public labyrinth appearances, and you are welcome to join me when and where you can, if you feel moved to do so.

The theme for today is Trust. Trust is different than faith. Faith is a belief in something unprovable. Trust is something that is (usually) earned. You can ask the Universe to prove to you that it has your back and see what happens; the deal is, though, that as it proves itself to you, you need to trust it more and more.

Questions that might help you see what you can release:  Do I have trustworthy people in my life? Am I naturally a suspicious person? Where have I misplaced my trust? Do I trust myself? Do I put more trust than I should in human beings, knowing the we are all fallible?

Suggestions for contemplation: What survival issues does trust bring up for me? How does trust allow me to grow? Is there a voice in me that serves as a counterpoint to the voice(s) that tell me not to trust? When I go into my heart, is it easier to trust? How do I or can I show the world that I am trustworthy? Am I willing to trust the Universe?

Your mantra for receiving today could be “I open myself up to appropriate and well-placed trust.
