Appropriately enough for the season, the idea of the Dark Night of the Soul has been coming up a lot. Spring, for all its glory, seems to be a time when lot of people can potentially feel abandoned by the Divine. I've been hearing more depression and disillusionment from people lately.
We recently went through a massive energy shift. We3've been working working working at making changes and getting ready and being focused, and it worked. We leveled up. The challenge with this, and it's nothing new, is that our higher vibration has become the norm, so we're not getting a spiritual high from it anymore. Consequently, we think something is wrong. Our negative egos latch onto the fact that we're not experiencing The Awesome as awesome as evidence of some sort of failure, and we can get depressed or disillusioned. Some people may even feel abandoned. Newsflash: You're not doing anything wrong. Mother Teresa, a symbol for many of what faith can accomplish, struggled with this feeling for most of the 66 years she did her work in Calcutta. She didn't let it stop her. Some people do. I have found that people of strong faith and convictions, when faced with a perceived drop in feedback from the Divine, become Atheists. In the Abrahmic religions, this is a powerful week. Easter week coincides with Passover (most years); and, while Muslims don't celebrate Passover, it is one of the most recounted stories in the Quran. This is a time when feelings of abandonment are quite possible, as illustrated in the sacred texts, and also where the illusion of those feelings needs to be acknowledged and moved past. This is a time to remember your mission, your sacred work, your spiritual foundations, and to redouble your efforts. If you're feeling low, don't let your negative ego win; get out of bed, buckle down, and keep moving forward. One of my friends likens it to going off to college. At some point in your journey, you have to grow up and make your own decisions - guidance is not as forthcoming as it once might have been. When you go off to college, your parents work very hard at not calling you every day, to let you spread your wings and have your own experience. Look at what my friend calls The Awkward Silence as an opportunity to make some mistakes and test out what you've learned thus far.
