[Monday Message] Acting consciously

What if your entire life felt sacred? All you really have to do is to act consciously. Acting Consciously turns your life into a form of prayer. “All you have to do” may be misleading, because, while this is a simple concept it is not easy.

The only moment that exists is right now. Here. In this moment. Everything else is in your head – it is either a memory or a projection. Now is what exists.

That eternal now is where we find the Divine. Your memories are questionable. The future is nothing but stories. But the Divine is real. You can prove this for yourself – get really really present. The sense of serenity that comes over a person when they allow themselves to be in the eternal now is the feeling of standing with the Divine.

So how does one act consciously? The simplest way is to approach every task in your life as if it were of utmost importance. Pay attention. Understand who the action benefits, what it creates, what opportunities it opens up. Focus from beginning to end on what you are doing. This will bring you into a space of acting on a much more conscious level. You will cease to waste your energy on things that have no benefit. You will become more effective and productive, because you will be focused on the task at hand.

Everything is sacred when you are in the eternal now. Everything you do is a conversation with the Divine. It does require strengthening your focus – it’s worth it. Acting consciously becomes its own reward.

This post is part of a series called Monday Message, based on that day’s reflection from 365 Days to Enlightenment (authorized versions are currently out of print, working on a new edition). Check back next Monday for another one! You can also sign up for the Daily Message on my mailing list if you’d like to receive a new reflection every day. I also often post them to Instagram, if that’s a medium you enjoy.
