Heads up: Incoming solar activity again!

A hole in the Sun's atmosphere, creating solar activityThis note about solar activity came through my inbox today:

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory is monitoring a large hole in the sun’s atmosphere, now directly facing Earth. A stream of solar wind escaping from the opening is expected to reach our planet during the late hours of Nov. 3rd, likely sparking minor G1-class geomagnetic storms over the weekend.

When we are bombarded by solar activity like this, even by a minor storm, it affects the electromagnetic field of the planet, which, in turn affects our personal electromagnetic fields. You might feel “jangly”, edgy, raw, overwhelmed (sound- and scent-sensitive are pretty common), or speedy. Conversely, some people feel super tired, especially if they were already run down or fighting off a bug.

As much as nobody’s going to want to hear this the week after Halloween, one of the best things you can do for yourself under these conditions is cut out all processed sugar, eat as close to raw as possible, and drink a lot of water with lemon. Utilizing your grounding practice (if you don’t have one, may I recommend the one from my album of guided meditations?), doubling up on your spiritual foundation, and doing modified sun salutations can also be an excellent energetic support.

We’re in the dark part of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, the veil is thin as we approach Astrological Samhain, and we’re moving into the shadow of Mercury Retrograde, so practicing good, solid self care is vital. As I said in this month’s newsletter

As the daylight wanes, and our nights get longer, we begin to move inward. Home seems more enticing. Small gatherings, with people we feel warmly towards, are more interesting to us than loud, raucous affairs. And yet, we are expected to be social, to go shopping, to attend All The Things. It is no wonder so many of us fall ill at this time of year. Cut yourself some slack this year, allow ample time for self care and recharging your batteries, and feel free to say “no” to at least half of your invitations.

A good meditation for this time of year can be found here.

May you surf this wave with aplomb!
