The 40 Day Practice: Day 6: Flow

We embark on the sixth day of a 40 Day Practice, based on the energy of the Labyrinth (releasing – contemplation – receiving). If you have a local labyrinth, I invite you to walk the labyrinth with today’s theme as your focus. If you don’t have a local labyrinth, you can create your own, take a walk somewhere peaceful, or even sit in contemplation in your own home. I will be scheduling various public labyrinth appearances, and you are welcome to join me when and where you can, if you feel moved to do so.

Today’s theme is Flow, the flow of energy through your life. This can have many aspects. It can be about allowing, it can be about prosperity, it can be about ease, it can be about love. What else can it be about?

Questions that might help you see what you can release: Do you see the energy in your life as flowing or stagnant? Why? What are the similarities between allowing, prosperity, ease, and love? What promotes those, and what inhibits them? What gets in the way of flow in your own life? When you picture energy flowing through your life, what does that look like? Can you see obstacles that might come up? What are they? What is the relationship of fear and flow in your life?

Suggestions for Contemplation: When rocks and minerals flow, what does that look like? What stops them? What helps them flow? In the plant world, what does flow mean, what does it achieve, and what stops it? Are there animals you particularly associate with the idea of flow? How do you relate to those animals? What does flow mean for mankind as a whole? Is there someone in your own life who has good flow in their life? What do you see them doing or not doing that enhances that? Is this something you can emulate? If not, why? What would it look or feel like if you received supernatural help with your flow? What is the relationship between flow and the Divine?

Your mantra for receiving today might be “I open myself to receive all of the gifts of the Universe, which flow to me freely and easily without struggle.

Amusingly, I found myself having to reschedule my labyrinth walk until after my Empowerment workshop. In going with the flow, I was able to walk the labyrinth at sunset, which was marvelous. The theme also came up in the workshop itself. The formal practice did not lend much insight, but the experience of the day was certainly one of flow.
